The premise of IT Portfolio Management is simple; it advocates managing IT assets in the same manner as a portfolio of stock investments. These assets may be software, hardware, or projects. As the steward of its company’s technology investments, IT is responsible for ensuring that current assets generate the highest possible returns and new investments are aligned with corporate strategies and targeted to those areas that provide the greatest business benefit. Implementing IT Portfolio Management requires three components: an inventory of the assets to be managed, a thorough understanding of corporate strategies and priorities, and a set of processes and metrics to evaluate asset performance and objectively direct financial and resource investments. |

With over 25 years of IT experience, Mr. Hayes is a highly regarded IT management and performance expert, having authored three IT books, hundreds of articles and a series of comprehensive IT management reports published by the Cutter Consortium. A popular speaker, Mr. Hayes has served as chairman and presenter at many widely attended US-based IT conferences. Mr. Hayes has extensive experience in all aspects of IT management from a practitioner's and manager's perspective.
